Some Advice About Posting Articles

Posted on May 23, 2009 – 9:40 pm | by admin

I thought it might be a good time to give you guys some pointers on posting articles to our website. Don’t sweat it…there aren’t many.

When we review your article for approval, we actually read it. Honestly, we do. If it’s of good content and quality, we approve it. If it’s not written well and has grammatical errors all over the place, it goes in the trash bin.

One thing that frustrates us is tons of code blended in with the article text. It’s almost as if the article was written in MS Word or something. Really, all you need is straight up text as if the article was written in Notepad. Don’t bold and words and don’t try to change fonts or italicize. Also, you only need to put in a link or two at the end of the article. We don’t give any more than two links. When people stuff links in every other keyword, guess where the article goes.

Okay, that about says it. I’ll post more if anything further comes to mind.

Just wind back the world where all and sundry longed to get a degree. Imagine wanting an education so badly that one would walk for miles to get it. This seems to be a never ending scenario, crave for education. An anthem is in the making, Microsoft and Cisco call it the certification!

The world is banging with the echo ‘hire only certified people’. SO, out of the 100%, only 10% of the people are equipped with certifications and rest of them is forced into it! And now it is like a battle having populace trying to get hold of most of the certification they can! No one is seen with a different eye, unless a professional degree is wrapped under the arms of the certified courses. Keeping in mind the strategies, the demands, the competition, the professionals, MICROSOFT and CISCO have framed a number of certification courses, right from system administrator to the IT professional.

The procedure involved is quite simple and lucid. The certificate is awarded to any person who completes and clears the test carried out by the organization in the stipulated time. The certification is based on different areas of scientific proficiency. The certifications offered by MICROSOFT are MCITP, MCTS, MCSA, MCP, and MCSE.

MCSA is an acronym for Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator; it is an official recognition for a person’s knowledge in system administration of Microsoft Windows operating systems. This certificate is attained by clearing two networking system exams, a client operating system and an elective paper.

A person having MCSA is more valued when he owns a MCSE certificate. It stands for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and is one of the superlative certification for Windows Server 2003. It shapes a person into a tycoon who can handle any crisis and take care of the requirements, plan and the execution involved for the same. The next one to follow is the MCTS; it is a technological specialist certification. There are more than twenty MCTS certifications based on the requirements and specifications.

This decade has proved that certifications hold a much higher value than any other degree under the sun.

Apart from Microsoft, CISCO also provides various certifications for the same. Now, it has become a trend and outstandingly necessity to have certification spaced out from standard degree. CISCO provides courses and certification for network managers and professionals. The most popular one is called the ‘CCNA’ which has taken an immense silhouette throughout the country. It stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate. A person who claims to have a CCNA certificate is very well equipped in the areas involving WAN and remote servers. To go hand in hand with it, CISCO has also introduced certification course named CCNP, CCIE.

With recession ruling the world, it is important for an individual to show his potential and uniqueness, which can be easily accomplished by getting hold of the above mentioned certificates.

The article about MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, MCITP, MCTS, MCSA and MCP certifications was pen down by Radu Antohi who has contributed with a lot of articles on various certification techniques.

Go green with your home energy supplies

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 7:09 pm | by dhiggins80@googlemail.com

Consumers are all too aware of the global warming issue, and many of us are seeking ways to reduce our carbon footprints. Now green energy has arrived, we can all do our bit to ensure that our household gas and electricity supplies come from greener sources, and here we explain how.

UK gas and electricity companies now have to make sure the at least 4,9 per cent of the power they supply comes from green energy sources. But what are these green energy sources? Right now there are four to choose from.

1. Solar power transforms the energy we receive from the sun into power for our homes, while wind power harnesses wind energy for the same purpose. We already obtain some of our energy from hydroelectricity, which is when we convert energy in flowing water to electricity. And lastly there is biomass fuel, where natural materials are burnt to provide energy for households.

2. We can all help to increase the level of green energy produced by signing up to the green tariff options now available from the majority of energy companies. There are usually two tariffs to choose from, and either one will lead to an increase in green power.

3. You can usually choose between a green tariff that takes the amount of energy that you consume and then guarantees to produce a matching amount of green energy, or you can choose a tariff that takes the extra money you pay to your supplier to spend on green energy initiatives.

4. Green energies are far more preferable to standard fossil fuel burning energies, as green energies have no harmful by-products, producing very little, if any, waste. Their sources are sustainable too, so their source of power will never run out.

5. Changing to a green tariff is no different than changing to any other gas or electricity tariff. There is no need to have any work carried out in your home, it is simply a matter of handling your account in a different way. It is likely that your current energy supplier will already have at least one eco-friendly tariff for its customers, if not have a look for suppliers that do by doing a quick online search.

If changing to a green tariff is too much of a stretch for your finances, you can instead examine the mix of fuels used by domestic suppliers. Suppliers must now publically provide information that details their CO2 emission levels and the amount of nuclear waste that they produce each year. Use this information so that you can pick a supplier that is greener than others.

How important is branding to your eBay business success?

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 7:08 pm | by ashish

For being successful in eBay business, it is absolutely essential to understand the importance of brand building and take determined steps for establishing and strengthening brand image and identity. This will ensure that the business stands out from the crowd while it is marketed on eBay.

When asked, most people cannot recall the name of the last seller from whom they bought something on eBay. Why does this happen? It is not on account of buyers lacking loyalty. It is only due to the seller’s efforts being insufficient to establish the brand and identity on eBay; either because he or she is unaware of its importance or does not know how to go about it.

If you are an eBay seller, your brand represents who and what you are and more importantly, how you want to be remembered. Your brand comprises of not just one but multiple factors like the name you have chosen, the business logo and associated design elements, the layout of your sales page/listing, the business policies and customer service etc. If your return policies are customer friendly and you address customer issues immediately to provide swift resolutions, it goes a long way in boosting and establishing your brand. Your customers will come back to you again and again because you would be their favorite seller and every time they think of buying a product your brand would be the first to come to mind.

When trying to find out how to improve and build your brand, one of the best ways is to use your own experience. Try to remember YOUR favorite seller and analyze why the brand stands out, what makes you want to buy from the outlet. These are important questions that you need to ask yourself. Once you have answered them, take a careful look at your own listings. Read your policies minutely. It may surprise you to find that the way your listings look may not be in total consonance with what you intend to address with customers. This needs to be checked and corrected because it will enhance sales. You will be able to get higher prices for your products with more people happily buying multiple items from you. You will receive compliments from people about how attractive and organized your listings appear. This means you will be remembered and also referred to friends and family. Properly formulated/written policies also lead to fewer customer service calls and emails.

If you have the necessary skills yourself to do what is required, go ahead. For example your logo, which has tremendous power to help create a strong brand image for your business may need re-designing to make it unique, simple and unforgettable. However, if the area requiring change does not match your area of skill, it is best to seek professional help.

Insuring your home

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 7:07 pm | by foster.carr81@gmail.com

There are two main types of home insurance, buildings and contents insurance. Buildings insurance is for protection against financial losses if the actual structure or permanent fixtures of your home are damaged or destroyed. Contents insurance gives you cover for the items in your home that would go with you if you moved. With lots of different policies available providing very different levels of cover, there are some things you should be aware of when buying a policy.

It is essential that your building insurance policy gives you cover for the full cost of rebuilding your property and not just the market value. This will protect you from fluctuations in the property market and will sometimes reduce the premium. The land your home is built on is unlikely to be damaged even if your house is destroyed by fire or flood. Rebuilding a house on the existing plot is often less expensive than buying another. Remember that similar houses may be worth different amounts even if they are only a few streets apart, but the cost of rebuilding will be the same.

Contents insurance needs to give you enough cover to replace your belongings, so be careful not to under insure. This means that the maximum your insurer will pay is not enough to cover your losses. Your premium will be higher if you need more cover, but it is a mistake to under insure because if you do need to make a claim you will lose out financially.

To get an accurate idea of how much cover you need, take an inventory of your belongings, including gifts and homemade items, and work out the total. Look for new for old policies so that you get the cost of a new replacement item, not the value of your old used one which could be a lot less.

You should think about cover for the contents of your home that you take out and about, like mobile phones, or jewellery. Also think about the contents of your garden, greenhouse and shed, are your tools and garden furniture covered?

Not all building insurance offers the same level of cover. Along with your house, check whether your buildings insurance covers you against damage to greenhouses, sheds and garages as these items can be costly to replace.

If you make any changes to your property, such as an extension or loft conversion, make sure that you inform your insurer and update your policy, otherwise you may lose out if your improvements are subsequently damaged or destroyed.

If you buy your buildings and contents insurance from the same company you may find it cheaper. Shop around and be aware that the cheapest cover may not be the best value for you, given that for a slightly higher premium you could be very grateful for the additional cover if you are unlucky enough to need it.

The Smart Meter revolution

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 7:04 pm | by dhiggins80@googlemail.com

The UK is now joining with the whole of Europe in changing the way that our gas and electricity is monitored. New Smart Meters are to replace existing meters across Europe by 2022, with 80 per cent coverage being attained by 2020.

The UK government has therefore decided that we will all have Smart Meters installed in our homes by 2020, so just what are these Smart Meters and what does this change mean for the everyday consumer?

1.The new Smart Meters are run electrically and can be fitted to gas, electric or water meters. Instead of giving an aggregate reading of your energy usage over a quarter or year like traditional meters, they provide a detailed rundown of your power usage so that you can see when you used power and what you used this power for.

2. The meters pass details of your power consumption back to your supplier so that they can monitor your power use. This means an end to estimated bills and the overcharging that can result with this method of meter reading..

3. Because information is sent directly to your supplier, energy suppliers will no longer need to pay to dispatch meter readers of their own, and hope to have less need for call centres set up to deal with customer queries about estimated bills. This all means savings for suppliers, and could lead to reduced energy rates for all of us.

4. Instead of getting a vague energy bill at the end of the month or quarter, Smart Meters will allow customers to actually see, minute by minute, their gas and electricity usage, complete with costs so that they can keep tabs on exactly what they are using power on. This is done via a display unit within the home connected to the Smart Meter itself.

5. The meters can be controlled remotely by the energy suppliers who can disconnect and reconnect power remotely, as well as monitor power quality, change the maximum amount of power supplied to a customer, and change meter billing plans at the touch of a button.

In order for us to make the switch to green energy, we will need a metering system in place that can deal with power supplies coming from a range of energy sources. Our standard metering system cannot handle this, and so Smart Metering is a prerequisite to our progress towards greener power.

Rest assured with the British Gas central heating repair and other heating services.

How Smart Meters will change our home energy use forever

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 7:01 pm | by dhiggins80@googlemail.com

The way energy companies and their customers measure their power consumption is to be changed forever thanks to the introduction of the Smart Meter. These advanced meter reading systems are to replace traditional gas, water and electricity meters by 2022, and could lead to savings for all of us.

And the British Isles will be aiming to be among the first to overhaul their metering systems according to the British Department of Energy and Climate Change who say that Smart Meters will have replaced every old meter in Britain by the end of the next decade. So why the eagerness to change? We examine the new Smart Meter and all that the new system entails for you.

1. Rather than just receiving one value every month or quarter from a standard gas or electric meter, you will now be able to receive energy consumption information at any time of day using your new Smart Meter, allowing you to better monitor your energy use.

2. The meters pass details of your power consumption back to your supplier so that they can monitor your power use. This means an end to estimated bills and the overcharging that can result with this method of meter reading.

3. Because information is sent directly to your supplier, energy suppliers will no longer need to pay to dispatch meter readers of their own, and hope to have less need for call centres set up to deal with customer queries about estimated bills. This all means savings for suppliers, and could lead to reduced energy rates for all of us.

4. The real advantage to consumers is the ability of the new Smart Meter to let you know exactly how you use your gas and electricity. It comes with a display unit that keeps you constantly updated with your usage. This allows consumers to monitor their energy consumption and better see where they can make savings by changing their energy usage behaviour.

5. Gas and electricity companies are keen to use this new technology as it means a far more streamlined and cheaper system for them to run than the current system, It allows companies to carry out a whole range of services remotely, including monitoring the quality of power supplied, looking for power being used illegally, checking for faults and black outs, changing consumer billing plans and monitoring customer usage information.

In order for us to make the switch to green energy, we will need a metering system in place that can deal with power supplies coming from a range of energy sources. Our standard metering system cannot handle this, and so Smart Metering is a prerequisite to our progress towards greener power.
British Gas can not only provide your gas supply, but are also one of Britain’s leading electricity suppliers.

Your guide to the new energy efficiency labels

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 6:58 pm | by dhiggins80@googlemail.com

Energy efficiency is an important issue nowadays and this is why you will find that any consumer electronic goods, including kitchen items like electric ovens, washing machines, fridges and freezers now come with a special energy efficiency rating. But what do these labels mean?

The first label to look out for is the European Union, or EU, energy rating label. These can be found on all white goods and light bulbs. It will give you the exact energy consumption for the appliance in kWh, and a rating as to how efficient this level of consumption is. Products are rated from A++, most efficient, to G, least efficient.

1. Thankfully it is now getting harder and harder to find home goods that are inefficient in energy terms. This is because the EU, or European Union, have stopped manufacturers from building freezers and fridges that are graded at level D or below.

2. The second label to watch out for is the Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers, or SEDBUK label. This label will only be found on boilers and grades boilers according to their efficiency, allowing you to easily compare different boiler systems.

3. Boilers are now rated like any other appliance, from A to G. If you are seeking a new boiler for your home, look out for condensing boilers, as these are by far the most efficient, converting a minimum of 90 per cent of the fuel they use into heat for your home.

4. Windows now have their own rating system too so that you can compare any windows that you are seeking to purchase for your home and pick out the most efficient glazing possible. Windows are graded from E, for least efficient, up to A, for maximum efficiency. These new labels are issued by the British Fenestration Rating Council, or BFRC, and look at the level of heat retained by each window type.

5. A simple indicator of highly efficient appliances is the Energy Saving Recommended logo. These logo labels are only placed on the most efficient goods, making it quicker and easier for you to identify the most efficient products on sale.

These labels are issued by the Energy Saving Trust, which is an independent body that reviews products every year. They set strict criteria for goods, and only goods that have an A+ grade of efficiency receive their seal of approval.
British Gas are not just the leading gas and electricity suppliers. They can also provide installation services for more energy efficient products such as the Worcester boiler range.

Finding low energy electric appliances for your home

Posted on February 8, 2010 – 6:56 pm | by dhiggins80@googlemail.com

Due to the huge leap in the number of consumer electronic products bought for use in our homes over recent decades, energy consumption has risen dramatically. In fact, more than thirty per cent of the average UK electricity bill is spent on powering these goods. So the next time you go shopping for electronics goods, what can you do to keep this energy use to a minimum?

Firstly, you can look out for products labelled by one of several energy saving bodies. Energy Saving Recommended labels products that are preferable for their more limited use of electricity, and their logo can be found on many appliances within the UK.

1. The second logo to look for is the Energy Star logo. This appears on home electronic products that meet the energy efficient standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. You will find their logo on a range of home electronics appliances, but not on ovens and oven hobs.

2. And lastly there is the EnergyGuide label. This label provides a guide to the energy usage of each appliance, with its estimated energy consumption and a rating as to how efficient this consumption is. These are found on many goods for the home, including fridges and freezers.

3. Another tip is to look for appliances that are integrated. So instead of buying a separate TV and set-top box, opt for a TV that has a digital receiver built in. This way you will use less electricity, and will save yourself the cost of having to power two appliances.

4.Energy saving features are now common in many consumer electronics goods. Several appliance types now come equipped with automatic standby, meaning that your appliance will shut down to standby automatically when they are not in use. Although switching them off at the mains is more efficient, standby mode is better than leaving your appliance on full power.

5. Flat screen TVs are now a very popular TV design, but many of these can use far greater energy than a standard television. Look out for LCD televisions rather than plasma screen televisions, as they are still flat but use a lot less energy.

When out shopping for your consumer electronics products, sales staff should know a good deal about the energy consumption rates and energy efficiency levels of their products, so do not be afraid to quiz them on the goods they have on offer.

British Gas are also one of the leading electricity companies. Find out how much you could save by switching your electricity supply today.
