PGs, Hostels and Apartments on SearchMyCampus

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Its admissions season again in almost every college across the country, and after admissions, housing is the biggest concern in every outstation student’s mind. Given the lack of hostel facilities in colleges, paying guest accommodation and rented apartments become the next best option for students moving away from home. However, how to find that perfect PG, apartment or even private hostel is a question that many students find difficult to answer.

The primary problem that the SearchMyCampus team has identified is a lack of adequate information about available facilities. Outstation students are forced to make several trips to their university even before session begins to find accommodation. They have limited information about surrounding areas – facilities, transport etc. and therefore take time to acclimatize. SearchMyCampus.com recognizes this problem and offers a solution in the form of housing classifieds, help lines and tips designed to offer students complete information about the kind of housing available, the right areas to live in, the rental one can expect and more.

Professionals out on field gather information from landlords and property dealers about various student properties available around campuses. They assist these property owners with posting classifieds on the website. A team of student reporters provides information about issues like what are the best areas to stay in, what students can expect from their accommodation, differences in rent for various areas, facilities available around campus. This is based on their own experiences at college. Students also man web based helplines where freshers can ask questions related to housing that are answered by their seniors or experts.

A student coming to Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University for instance can start by looking through the Delhi University Tips Information section to get a general idea about living on campus. He or she can identify residential areas nearest to college, Satya Niketan in this case, and learn what to expect in terms of rent and facilities. The student can then visit the Delhi University housing classifieds to see what properties are available in the Satya Niketan area and narrow down the ones that best suit his or her needs and budget. Finally, the student can post any remaining queries about living in the area on the Delhi University housing helpline, and have seniors or other experts answer their doubts.

At present this facility is only available for select campuses that see a large influx of outstation students every year. The team plans to extend it to all campuses in the country within a short period of time. Apart from housing, they also plan to add helplines and tips for other categories such as books and coaching that are presently restricted only to classifieds. These categories, the team believes, will see high demand over the next few months.

About Searchmycampus.com
SearchMyCampus is a venture of Valyoo Technologies Private Limited. It is a campus and jobs classifieds website that serves basic student needs i.e. jobs, housing, coaching, gadgets, books, transport and events for various universities in India like Jawaharlal Nehru University, Amity University, Mumbai University and lots more.

Among Online Colleges, Accounting Courses Is One of the Most Popular Options

Are you thinking about going back to school online? Now is a great time to educate yourself and improve your resume with an online education. With an online education you can start whenever you want, you don’t have to wait for Fall classes to start. There is one problem with going to school online. The number of online schools is approaching the number of traditional colleges in the United States. This means that there are thousands of choices, all available in the comfort of your own home. How do you know which one to choose?

An important factor to consider is the available courses. An online accounting course is one of the most popular choices because of the demand for accountants. What sets one online accounting course apart from another though? Some of the factors to consider when choosing a accounting course online are accreditation, faculty, and degree level.

Important factors to consider when choosing an online accounting course

The first and foremost thing you want in an online accounting course is proper accreditation. Accreditation certifies that the online accounting college has passed a review of their standards and practices. Without accreditation, employers might not acknowledge the degree you earns or the hard work you put into getting it. So before signing up for an accounting course online, make sure that they have proper accreditation.

Another important factor to consider is the teaching faculty. Even though the accounting courses are online, you still need to find a college that has teachers who are competent in not only accounting, but teaching. Trying to learn from an accountant who doesn’t know much about teaching is hard, and trying to learn accounting from a teacher who doesn’t know accounting is impossible. It is also important that the teachers of the online accounting courses are good at teaching online. Teaching online is very different than teaching in person, and it poses its own unique set of challenges. If a teacher is not used to teaching online, then learning the accounting course material can become very difficult.

A final consideration for when you are deciding which online accounting course to take: What kind of degree do you want? It is possible to get associates degrees or a bachelor’s degree when taking accounting courses online. If you are interested in getting a job and getting experience as quickly as possible, then an associates degree is probably the best for you. The associate’s degree takes an average of 2 years to complete. On the other hand, if you are thinking about becoming a certified public accountant (CPA), then you would want to go for a 4 year bachelor’s degree.

Look into an Online Accounting Program Today

So now that you know what to look for in an Online Accounting Program you can make an informed decision about where you are going to start your new future in accounting.

Phoenix Trade Schools Help Make Arizona Weather Bearable

Mechanical Maintenance Programs in Tempe Keep Heating and Air Conditioning Systems Running

Anyone who has been to Arizona can tell you that the temperature in varies wildly between day and night. The reason for this is the lack of moisture in the air. During the day, moisture absorbs heat and stores it. Then when the sun goes down it stays warm because there is still heat stored in the moisture in the air. This doesn’t happen in Arizona. Since the air is so dry, when the sun goes down, the temperature drops severely. Because of this, Arizona has the city with the most days over 100 °F in the United States (Phoenix), and the city with the most days with a low below freezing in the continental United States (Flagstaff).

Since Arizona has such extremes of temperatures it is important to make sure the heating and AC systems of residences and businesses are always working properly. If there is a problem with a heating or air conditioning system, things will become uncomfortable very quickly. This is why HVAC technicians are especially valuable in AZ. The weather assures there are always electro-mechanical jobs in Arizona.

Arizona HVAC Schools Help Train Qualified HVAC Technicians

HVAC stands for “heating, ventilating, and air conditioning” which is exactly what the field involves. HVAC technicians are responsible for all the pieces of the HVAC system, including the furnace, the air conditioning unit, the ventilation ducts, and the vents with disperse the air into the building.

There are many more facets to HVAC though, which is why people have to attend a Phoenix Trade School before they start working in Mesa or elsewhere. On the heating side, a HVAC technician has to know about furnaces, but also boilers, and heat pumps. When it comes to ventilation the technician needs to understand the mechanical maintenance of the air handling unit, which circulates the air throughout the system. Sometimes these are built into the heating / cooling unit or sometimes it is a separate mechanism. It all depends on the system.

In addition to the existing varieties of mechanisms, there are new technologies always becoming available. This is not only to drive down costs of running the HVAC systems, but also to lower the ecological impact. For example, the idea of “zoned” heating and cooling has emerged. In this system there are separates thermostats for areas of the building. This allows people to keep certain areas at a comfortable temperature, while other, less used areas, can be set at a more economical temperature. Fortunately there are plenty of Arizona HVAC Schools to keep HVAC technicians up to date on all these new technologies.

AZ AC Technologies vs New Hampshire Heating

Does AZ Air Conditioning Use More Electricity?

Areas like Phoenix, Arizona, get a bad rep. People see the suburban neighborhoods with the air conditioners running constantly, and they start complaining about waste. Whether their concern is more for the emissions, natural resources, or if they just think it is a waste of money, they are sure to make their complaints known. It is somewhat understandable. When temperatures in Phoenix are above 100 °F more than any other city in the United States, there are a lot of houses, businesses and schools to cool down. There are other factors to consider though.

Differences to Consider between Gilbert Air Conditioning & New Hampshire Heating

It is true that temperatures in Arizona are often over 100 °F, and that air conditioning units are often set at 70 °F or lower. This means that the air conditioners are working on fighting at least a 30 °F difference. While that seems pretty severe, there are worse situations. For example, in New Hampshire, the temperature is typically below 0 °F in the winter. Even if their thermostats are set on 60 °F the heating systems are working to heat up the house 60 °F. That is 100% more than the differential in Phoenix, Arizona.

Here is another factor to consider. In general, houses in Phoenix, Arizona, have been constructed more recently than houses in New Hampshire. This means that the houses in Phoenix are constructed with more efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. Additionally, the insulation is newer and more efficient. In comparison, houses in New Hampshire are generally much older. This means they are draftier and offer less resistance from the outside temperatures. Additionally, their HVAC systems are much older and less efficient (unless the house received a complete HVAC overhaul).

A Scottsdale Air Conditioning Course can Open Doors for You

As exemplified by the previous example, it is easy to be fooled by the complexities of HVAC. This is why it is important to get a licensed Phoenix AC contractor if your HVAC system needs work. HVAC technicians complete specialized training in a Phoenix Trade School before becoming HVAC technician. After completing their course of study in an Arizona HVAC school, HVAC technicians spread throughout Arizona to areas where the market is good. The metropolitan area of Phoenix is an excellent place to work, including the areas of Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, and Tempe. If all this sounds interesting to you, look into an Arizona electrical program and decide is a future as a HVAC technician is right for you.

Look Beyond the Big Names for a Law School in Sacramento

California has more than its fair share of great law schools. Stanford is at the top of many lists; though that doesn’t mean that U.C. Berkley, UCLA or USC don’t have fantastic law programs. Unfortunately, many people looking to attend Stanford’s Law Program do not get to because of Stanford’s 8.7% acceptance rate.

Law school in general is very hard to get into, so there is no shortage of people in Sacramento who are looking for another avenue after they didn’t get into law school. There are other options inside the justice system. A California Paralegal Degree might be just what these people are looking for.

Consider Enrolling in a California Paralegal School

California paralegal school graduates assist lawyers with various duties involving the cases they are working on. This includes reviewing and summarizing documents, interviewing clients and witnesses, and drafting legal documents. These duties are extremely important to the smooth operation of the law firm at which the paralegal works.

In order to get a California paralegal degree a person must enroll and complete the course of study in a California Paralegal School. The great thing about these schools is that an undergraduate degree isn’t required to enroll. The only requirement for education is a high school diploma or a GED.

Once accepted into a California paralegal school, students follow a course of study which generally takes 2 years to complete. During this period the students take classes on legal writing, criminal law, and civil litigation. This program helps prepare the students for all the situations and duties that they will face as a California paralegal. The hands-on nature of the education is important because it means that the students graduate job ready. From the day they get their California Paralegal Degree, they are ready to work and perform all the duties of a paralegal.

A California Paralegal Degree Can Open Many Doors for Anyone

So if you know someone who is disappointed by the fact that they were rejected by law school, or if you know someone just looking for a new career direction, let them know about a California Paralegal Program. Getting a California Paralegal Degree could be exactly what you need to start your new life working in the legal sector.

MTI College is a Law School in Sacramento that offers a wide variety of training programs and courses in legal writing, criminal law, and civil litigation through California Paralegal Degree and California Paralegal Program.

CLEP Exams Continue To Provide Excellent Value In Spite of Upcoming Price Increase

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

CLEP, College Level Examination Program, offers 34 different exams that allow students to demonstrate college-level proficiency in subjects such as foreign language, social sciences, science, and history. Effective July 1, 2009, each CLEP (College Level Exam Program) exam will cost $72 to take. This new price is only a slight increase from the current exam fee of $70. In spite of the increased price of taking a CLEP test, these college-level exams continue to provide an excellent way for college students to drastically decrease their undergraduate tuition bill.

CLEP exams generally cover material taught in classes that undergraduate students take in the first two years of college. CLEP exams are 90 minutes long and most exams are computerized and multiple choice. Each satisfactory CLEP score can result in three to 12 credits. Generally, colleges accepting CLEP grant students the same number of credits for a satisfactory CLEP test scores as the student would earn by passing the same course.  For example United States History I is typically a three credit hour course; so, a student can earn three credits by taking the United States History I CLEP test. Over 2,900 colleges and universities grant credits to students who achieve satisfactory CLEP test scores and each of these learning institution has its own policies regarding CLEP exams. Students interested in taking CLEP tests should first talk to their academic advisor or their educational service officers.

Academic advisors are an excellent resource for students who are interested in taking CLEP tests. Academic advisors at colleges and universities accepting CLEP are able to give students information about which CLEP tests they can take in order to meet certain course requirements, how to prepare for CLEP exams, and how to locate a testing center and register to take an exam. With over 1,300 CLEP test centers located across the U.S. and abroad, students are likely to find a testing center within driving distance.

Educational Service Officers (ESOs) offer educational advice and guidance to U.S. active duty and reserve military personnel. ESOs are a valuable resource to the enlisted military personnel who are trying to earn a college degree while in the military. The ESOs can offer guidance concerning various academic paths, obtaining college credits for military experience, and how to utilize CLEP exams toward a college degree. In addition to general advice, ESOs can often offer specific advice, such as testing center locations, information about the registration process, and guidance on preparing for an exam.

In addition to gaining valuable information about CLEP from their ESOs or academic advisors, students will find that their peers who have taken CLEP exams are also excellent resources. Students’ peers can give first hand tips on how to best prepare for a CLEP test and how to fully utilize the potential cost savings to be gained from CLEP. Even as the CLEP exam fee slightly increases, students continue to utilize this amazing educational program to save hundreds or thousands of dollars in tuition expenses, save time, lighten semester course load, move on to exciting degree specific courses, and even graduate sooner

About US: Although the CLEP tests are similar to AP tests in some ways, there are no requirements that a student take a certain course prior to taking a CLEP test. This is advantageous for those students who have been out of high school for an extended period of time or those who did not take AP classes. In addition, students who have failed an AP exam can still earn college credits by passing the correlating CLEP exam.

Military personnel Can Use CLEP Exams To Work Toward Their Undergraduate Degree Completion

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

CLEP, College Level Examination Program, is a series of exams that students can take in order to demonstrate college level proficiency in a variety of subjects, such as history, English, and math. Each satisfactory CLEP score can result in the student gaining between three and twelve college credits. Because students can prepare for and take these exams as their schedules permit, CLEP exams offer great flexibility to students who wish to obtain a college degree. Even though an individual may not currently be enrolled in a college or university, he or she can still take CLEP exams and transfer credits earned through these exams when he or she does enroll in a higher learning institution. With over 2,900 colleges and universities accepting CLEP, students are likely to find that they, too, can use CLEP exams to work toward their desired degree. While individuals from all walks of life take CLEP exams, military personnel are one group who can benefit from CLEP in a unique way.

While some military personnel are able to pursue a college degree while actively in the service through attending college classes in person or online, other military personnel do not have the time to attend classes due to their work schedule, deployment status, or other prohibitive circumstance. CLEP exams are an excellent resource for military personnel who are either currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or who wish to pursue a degree in the future. Military personnel can study for and take CLEP exams as their schedules allow and begin earning valuable credits toward their desired degree. Individuals who have little or no background knowledge of a subject can often prepare for a CLEP test in as little as a few weeks of diligent preparation. Study resources include CLEP study guides, practice CLEP tests, online study resources, and college textbooks.

The U.S. government allows active duty and reserve military personnel and other eligible civilian government employees to take CLEP exams for free (a small registration fee applies for CLEP exams taken on college campuses). Military personnel can choose to take CLEP exams at College Test Centers on designated military bases, certain college campuses, and Dantes Education Centers. With testing centers being located within the U.S. and abroad, military personnel are often able to take CLEP exams even while deployed.

Military personnel who choose to take their CLEP test at a testing center on a college campus or military base will be able to take any of the 34 different CLEP exams in a computerized testing format and will receive their score immediately after completing the exam. The list of current CLEP testing centers located on college campuses as well as information about the registration process can be found on CLEP’s official website, www.collegeboard.com. If they choose to test at a Dantes Education Center, military personnel will be able to take 14 different CLEP tests in a pencil-and-paper format and will receive their score in approximately six weeks after the testing date. Educational Services Officers and Navy College Education Specialists can provide valuable information such as military base and Dantes Educational Center testing locations and registration instructions.

CLEP can provide an excellent way for military personnel to work toward their undergraduate degree in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Military personnel are encouraged to contact the College Board, their Educational Service Officers or Navy College Education Specialists, and their college academic advisor for further information on CLEP.

About US: Many military personnel in the United States military find that CLEP tests and CLEP exams are an excellent way to work toward their college degree while at home or abroad.
